About us

Who we are

We leverage our scale to create innovative and tailored solutions that help our customers optimize their supply chains and stay ahead of their competition.

African Business Solutions (“ABS”) is a boutique investment banking and advisory firm headquartered in Kinshasa, operating at the nexus of capital, strategy, and execution across Sub-Saharan Africa.

We position ourselves not merely as advisors, but as long-term partners to investors, governments, and project sponsors seeking to unlock the continent’s most compelling opportunities. Our core focus spans the mining, forestry, agriculture, and infrastructure sectors, which are both foundational to economic development and structurally undercapitalised relative to their global significance.

At its core, ABS exists to bridge asymmetries of information, access, capital, and execution capability. Africa presents extraordinary resource endowment and demographic momentum, yet the pathway from concept to bankable project is often fragmented and opaque. ABS acts as the “door to Africa,” combining local intelligence with global financial discipline to structure transactions that are both commercially robust and institutionally credible. We bring clarity where there is complexity and certainty where there is perceived risk.

Our approach is grounded in rigorous financial analysis and disciplined transaction structuring. We provide integrated services including financial modelling, feasibility and bankability assessments, due diligence, and capital structuring. Unlike conventional advisory firms, ABS engages deeply at the earliest stages of project development, frequently participating in feasibility studies alongside engineering, legal, and technical partners. This upstream involvement ensures that projects are conceived with financing viability in mind from inception, materially increasing their probability of successful execution.

We operate with a distinctly cross-border mindset. Our clients include international investors seeking entry into African markets, as well as local sponsors seeking access to global pools of capital. ABS serves as the intermediary that aligns these constituencies, translating local opportunity into investment-grade propositions while navigating regulatory, political, and operational realities on the ground. This dual fluency is a defining differentiator and underpins our ability to close complex transactions in challenging environments.

Our philosophy reflects a synthesis of global investment banking best practice and African pragmatism. As illustrated in leading merchant banking models, sustainable value creation is anchored in disciplined capital allocation, diversified exposure across the capital structure, and a focus on durable, cash-generative assets with strong barriers to entry . ABS applies these principles selectively within its sectors of focus, prioritising projects that exhibit structural demand, resilience to cyclical volatility, and the capacity for scalable growth.

We adhere to the highest professional and ethical standards in all aspects of our work. Client interests are paramount, and we maintain strict confidentiality, independence of judgment, and cost discipline in the deployment of both client and firm resources. Our advisory is not transactional; it is built on trust, discretion, and a commitment to long-term partnership. We measure our success not by fees generated, but by the sustained performance improvements and value creation our clients achieve.

ABS is equally committed to delivering a holistic impact. In emerging markets, financial returns cannot be divorced from broader socio-economic outcomes. Our work is therefore guided by a dual mandate: to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns for investors while contributing meaningfully to economic development, job creation, and infrastructure expansion. This integrated perspective enhances project sustainability and aligns stakeholders across the value chain.

A defining characteristic of ABS is its tailored, solutions-oriented methodology. Each mandate is approached as a unique strategic problem requiring bespoke structuring rather than standardised templates. We leverage a global network of capital providers, technical experts, and strategic partners to assemble optimal solutions for each client. This flexibility allows us to operate effectively across a wide spectrum of transaction types, from early-stage project development to complex cross-border acquisitions and capital raises.

Our internal culture is deliberately non-hierarchical, meritocratic, and intellectually rigorous. We invest heavily in developing our people through apprenticeship, mentorship, and continuous exposure to complex transactions. Diverse perspectives are actively encouraged, and constructive dissent is viewed as a critical component of sound decision-making. This environment enables ABS to attract and retain exceptional talent capable of operating at the highest levels of the profession.

Ultimately, ABS is defined by its commitment to execution. In markets where many opportunities fail to progress beyond concept, our role is to ensure that viable projects reach financial close and are delivered to completion.

We combine analytical precision with operational tenacity, working alongside our clients from initial structuring through to implementation. In doing so, we do not simply advise on transactions we help build enduring enterprises that contribute to the long-term development of Africa’s economic landscape.

the greatest opportunities are rarely found where everyone is already comfortable. They are found where vision, courage, and trusted local partnerships come together to build lasting value.

At African Business Solutions, we stand beside investors every step of the journey — with local expertise, strategic networks, and a deep understanding of the Congolese market. We believe the next generation of global success stories will be built in Africa, and we invite visionary partners to build them with us.
